Make a Tote Bag

Join us at the Felicity Branch on Monday, November 26 at 6:00 p.m. to discover how to recycle a feed bag into a tote bag.

Bring one clean poly woven 20-50 lb. sized animal feed bag to the library and we�ll show you how to upcycle it into a tote bag with just a few staples and duct tape.

Student Photography Exhibit

Clermont County Public Library presents �Through the Lens,� a collection of photography from Milford High School students. See books come alive like never before as students show off their artistic interpretations of their summer reading assignments. Don�t miss the exciting photographs on display all November in the Milford-Miami Township Branch meeting room during regular library hours.


Picture Book Month

This year marks the second celebration of Picture Book Month. �In September 2011, I had the idea to create a campaign, an international initiative designating November as Picture Book Month,� said Dianne de Las Casas, a children�s book author and storyteller. Clermont County Public Library has an assortment of great picture books for you to choose from by great authors such as Mo Willems, Laura Numeroff, Jane Yolen, and Eric Carle.

Celebrate Writing!

Welcome to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) during November. If you're planning on writing a novel, the library has resources to help!

Brooks Rexroat, a published author, will be speaking at the Amelia Branch on Tuesday, November 13. He'll discuss finding the motivation and inspiration to write. Register for the program online or call 752-5580.

The New Richmond Branch hosts the River City Writers' Group which meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.

The Williamsburg Branch holds a weekly Creative Writing Group every Thursday morning at 10:30.

The Amelia Branch is offering Quiet Writing Time: Let Your Creativity Flow, a quiet time for writers to work on their novels in the branch.

If a short story is more your speed, enter CCPL's Short Story Contest. The winner will receive a new Kindle Paperwhite! You can enter online or at a branch. You have until November 21 to submit your entry.

Military Uniform Display

Visit the New Richmond Branch in November during regular library hours and view our display of military uniforms worn by local veterans during WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or Desert Storm.

Library Creates "Mocktail" For Fun Competition

Clermont County Public Library joined several other organizations Oct. 30, 2012 at UC East for the annual Mocktail Competition sponsored by Clermont County Safe Communities. Everyone who participated in the event was asked to create a non-alcoholic �mocktail� to promote safe and sober driving. The library decided to celebrate one of its highest-circulated books, The Hunger Games, with a mocktail called �Girl on Fire.� It was a toast to the tributes!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of ginger ale
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup of grenadine

Chill and stir together the first 3 ingredients. Add the grenadine last to achieve the �Girl on Fire� glow!


Short Story Contest 2012

The Clermont County Public Library is offering a short story contest for adults 18 and up. For contest rules, or to enter, click here.

PRIZE: The new Kindle Paperwhite eReader will be awarded to the winner of the contest, chosen by a panel of library judges.

DEADLINE: Entries must be submitted by Nov. 21, 2012.

SUBMISSION: Stories may be entered here or turned into your local branch. To ensure stories are judged impartially, manuscripts must not bear the name of the author. Names should only be included on the online or paper entry form.
